The 300 Spartans at Thermopylae Were Not 300. There Were 7,000 Greek Soldiers. History Dropped the Other 6,700.
The Greek force at Thermopylae numbered somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 soldiers from across the Greek city-states. The 300 were real. They were also roughly four percent of the total. History remembered the four percent and forgot almost everyone else.
